Local owners of Northgate Mall recruit General Growth to handle day-to-day operations
CHICAGO (July 1, 2009) Effective Wednesday, July 1, General Growth Management, Inc. will assume responsibility for providing management, leasing and marketing services for Northgate Mall and Cherokee Square Shopping Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The contract was awarded to General Growth’s Third Party Management Division by Northgate Limited Liability Company. General Growth's Third Party Management Division is currently responsible for a diverse group of properties owned by institutional and private owners.
Located in central Tennessee, with the area’s only regional airport and a thriving medical center, Tullahoma is ideally situated to be a retail hub not only for Tennessee residents, but also for people who live just across the border in Alabama,” says Joe Lester, managing partner of Northgate Limited Liability Company.
“However, when Northgate Mall and Cherokee Square Shopping Center began having challenges, we knew we needed a change,” continues Mr. Lester. “We wanted a company who would bring in national experience and big-picture ideas, so we turned to General Growth. This is a company with national experience as well as local experience. They know the business inside and out – from customer amenities to how to attract national retailers, and we are going to rely on General Growth for guidance to get us back on track.”
Northgate Mall is a 205,000 square-foot enclosed shopping center located in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The city serves as a retail and medical hub for cities within a 20-mile radius, including Lynchburg, Manchester, Shelbyville and Winchester. The shopping center is anchored by JCPenney and Big Lots. Cherokee Square Shopping Center is a 76,000 square-foot, open-air shopping center located adjacent to Northgate Mall.
