Windward Mall is located on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii's most populated island. The mall is the only regional shopping center serving the east side of the island with a trade area stretching from Waimanalo to Kahuku. The trade area includes a regional hospital, three colleges, 32 public schools and Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
Long considered a community gathering place, Windward Mall is centrally located in Kaneohe town and is within a 30-minute drive from most points on Oahu. A major renovation was completed in August 2007 including the addition of a new 22,000 square-foot Borders and Oahu’s first indoor children’s soft play area. In November 2009, an extensive redevelopment of the food court was completed.
Windward Mall’s new Pa’ina Ko’olau Food Court is 18,490 square feet in size with seating for 372 people, more than twice the size of the center’s previous food court. Special exhibit areas feature historical and contemporary photos and videos to convey the history of the area. Additionally, the food court features eight digital television screens with select news, sports and entertainment programs, as well as advertising messages from mall merchants and other businesses. The diverse lineup of food court tenants includes an exciting mix of new eateries together with longtime favorites.
