
Kristen Pate serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel of GGP, where she is responsible for the structuring, negotiation, and execution of all legal matters related to leasing, development, financing, acquisitions, mergers, and investments. Additionally, she oversees the placement and management of insurance lines and third-party risk transfer structures for GGP’s North American portfolio.
As General Counsel of the retail business, Kristen leads multiple teams, including legal leasing, legal real estate, litigation and employment, asset recovery, tenant bankruptcy, contracts, and risk management. Beyond her core responsibilities within the retail business, she provides guidance for real estate insurance programs across the North American businesses.
Kristen joined the company in 2005 as a member of the commercial real estate legal team, specializing in litigation and distressed tenant workouts. In 2018, she expanded her role to also include legal leasing, risk management, and insurance.
Kristen holds a Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. She also serves as the fundraising chairperson for ReNew Communities, a non-profit dedicated to providing housing, job, and mentoring support to residents of North Chicago, Illinois.
